My re-election campaign for Snohomish County Sheriff focuses on leadership, accountability, and the community. Snohomish County is great place to live, work, and play and our communities deserve a law enforcement agency that will focus on their needs.

Our communities want many things from their Sheriff’s Office. They want us to be responsive and professional, but they also want us to be compassionate and understanding. As your Sheriff, we have developed a successful strategy in addressing the County’s opioid and mental health crisis.

  • Community Involvement

Over the past 5+ years, I have worked hard to improve our community involvement by focusing our efforts on community policing. We have also opened up our precincts and extended our services to the public as part of our commitment to “Community First”. We started the Office of Neighborhoods which embedded social workers with uniformed deputies to problem solve our County’s homeless crisis. We created the Diversion Center to get people addicted, off of our streets and into treatment.

  • Snohomish County Jail

The Snohomish County Jail shouldn’t be the largest mental health facility in our County and we have worked very hard to improve our system by adding necessary medical staff and by changing how we treat addiction and co-occurring disorders. Five years ago, I committed to aggressively pursuing those who choose to violate the law and improve public safety. We continue to partner with local and Federal agencies to improve our response and hold criminals accountable. In addition, we have remained fiscally accountable by staying within our budget and working with other elected officials to prioritize public safety.

  • Added Accountability

The Sheriff’s Office has revamped its policies and added accountability to make sure that we keep our citizen’s safe. In 2017 the Sheriff’s Office achieved Washington State accreditation for law enforcement making the agency part of 60+ agencies statewide that had achieved this recognition. The Sheriff’s Office has also been recognized nationally for improving driver safety and traffic safety by the Governor’s Highway Safety Administration and the National Law Enforcement Memorial.

  • Snohomish County Growth

We have to focus on our growth in Snohomish County and put an emphasis on hiring additional deputy sheriffs to patrol our communities. Traffic congestion and neighborhood safety require more law enforcement officers and I will continue to work with my elected officials to add deputies in every budget year. In addition, we must improve access to the communities that we serve and this requires moving our precinct facilities. We can accomplish this by using land already owned by Snohomish County.

  • Community First - Public Safety Always

“Community First, Public Safety Always” is my philosophy for today and for the future.

Our agency culture is defined by leadership with each employee inspiring others to be more than they could on their own. Employee safety and citizen safety will be the top of our list ALL THE TIME.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and I ask for your vote.
