Ty grew up in Washington State and graduated from Bethel Senior High School in 1984. Ty attended Pacific Lutheran University after high school but quickly found that law enforcement was his calling. Ty became a reserve police officer in the Town of Eatonville where he was eventually hired full-time as a police officer.
Ty has served the citizens of Washington State as a police officer for over 25 years. Ty is the proud father of two daughters, one who is attending Western Washington University, and the other daughter currently attends Stanwood High School. Ty is married to his wife Vicki who is an elementary school teacher for the Marysville School District. Ty and Vicki have made their home in Stanwood. Their oldest daughter is currently studying environmental issues at WWU and hopes to help improve environmental conditions as part of her degree plan. They have made Snohomish County their home for over 20 years and believe very strongly in their community.
Ty and Vicki enjoy traveling, especially to the warm sun. Ty enjoys fishing, snow-skiing, and spending time with his family and friends. Ty loves wood-working and likes to work in his shop whenever there is time. Ty and Vicki have an Old English bulldog named Zeus and a Bichon Frise named Boomer.
Ty has extended family that lives in Oklahoma and Texas and he tries to spend time with them as often as possible.
